BLESSINGS AFTER THE STORM

Don't realize how good you've got it until later? Me either. Ike left 2 million people without power in a place where A/C is a necessity of life. Many lost their homes. People are stranded all across Texas with nowhere to go and there is no room at the inn--any inn for 100 miles. I talk to people all night who have nowhere to go. Many in tears, most in a dazed denial from their loss. Gas lines have been long. Grocery stores, if open, are strained to help the masses. I don't even know what I can do to help. I have helped cut up fallen trees, but there are so many needs.

I have been out of a job and the kids have been out of school, but it has been great to be with them helping with the added strain at home, but with so many worse off than I there has got to be something more I can do.
